The Breaking of Dawn

Scriptures That Anchor Me

  • “And the Lord shall scatter thee among all people, from the one end of the earth even unto the other…”— Deuteronomy 28:64

  • “But if from thence thou shalt seek the Lord thy God, thou shalt find him…”— Deuteronomy 4:29

When the sun rises, so does the truth…

This morning, I didn’t just witness the breaking of dawn in the sky — I experienced it in my soul.

As I read Deuteronomy 28, something awakened in me that I can’t unsee or unknow.

As a Black African American, reading those verses hit differently. I didn’t just read about blessings and curses. I read my history. I read the journey of my people. I saw our struggle foretold. I saw the pain of disobedience. And I saw a mirror, not just a message

 Deuteronomy 28: A Wake-Up Call

The verses about being scattered, carried away in ships, becoming a byword among nations — they weren’t distant prophecies. They were reflections of generational trauma. I felt the weight of every word. But I also felt something else:

Purpose.

This wasn’t just a curse. It was a call. A call to turn back. A call to reclaim who we are in God,

chosen, not forgotten. Scattered, but never abandoned.

🙏🏾 This Is My Awakening

The true dawn today wasn’t the sun on the horizon. It was the realization that the Bible isn’t a stranger’s story. It’s ours. My ancestors walked through these verses. And I believe we are being called — in this generation — to return, to remember, to rise.

Yes, we’ve endured pain. Yes, we’ve been displaced and despised. But dawn is breaking. God is still speaking. And we are still His.

🕊️ Prayer from My Heart

“Father, thank You for truth that wakes me up and gives me hope. Thank You for Your mercy, even when we’ve strayed. I ask for clarity, courage, and conviction — to walk in the light You’ve given me. Not just for myself, but for my people. May this be the generation that returns to You.”

Final Thought

Dawn always breaks. Light always comes. And when it does, we can’t go back to sleep.
